[用法]如此...以至於...,that在此引導結果狀語從句(有時可能省略)

[注意]1.這裏的so後接形容詞或副詞或形容詞加冠詞加名次,另有固定搭配so few/many/much/little/等.

加形容詞或副詞置於句首引起倒裝

[用法]a. 成功的

[聯想]相關詞形succeed/successfully/success

[用法]關係代詞,引導定語從句,指代先行詞(人或物),在從句中做主語或賓語或標語

[注意]定語從句將在後面的單元正式學習,相關句型在近幾個單元裏會多次出現,請留意.

[用法]為了...

[舉例]We started early in order to arrive before dark.

[聯想] as to...,和in order to...同義,但前者一般不用於句首

2.否定式在to前加not

3.相應的目的狀語從句由so that...或in order that...引導.

8>He talks to him and treats him as a friend.

treat

[用法](此處)vt. 對待;看待,把...看作[O][(+as/like)]

[舉例]Do not treat this serious matter as a joke.

不要把這件嚴肅的事情當作笑料。

She treated me all right.

她對我還不錯。

9>Chucks learns that we need friends to share happiness and sorrow,and it is important to have someone to care about.

share

[用法]vt.1. 均分;分配(+out/among/between) 2. 分享;分擔;共同使用(+with/among/between)

vi.分享;分擔[(+in)]

[舉例]He shared with his friends in distress.

他和朋友共患難。

We shared in his joy.

我們分享了他的喜悦。

care about

[用法]關心;擔心;在乎,介意

[聯想]care for,除具有care about的意思外還可表示"對...感興趣","喜歡"之意.

[説明]對這兩個短語,很多詞典解釋不一,界限比較模糊.

10>When he makes friends with Wilson,he understands that friendship is about feelings.

[用法]和...交朋友

[聯想]make enemies with 與...為敵

11>Most of our friends are human beings.

[用法]a.1. 人的;人類的 n. 人[ns]; human being 人;人類

[舉例]This meat is not fit for human consumption.

這種肉不適合人食用。

It s only human nature to want a comfortable life.

人的本性就是要過舒服的生活。

Wolves will not usually attack humans.

狼通常不會襲擊人。

12>The lesson we can learn from Chuck and all the others who have unusual friends is that friends are teachers.

[講解]本句包含三個從句:

we can learn from Chuck為定語從句,修飾the lesson,關係代詞that或which在從句中做賓語,可以省略.

who have unusual friends為定語從句,修飾all the others,關係代詞做主語不可省略.

that friends are teachers,此為that引導的表語從句,其構成和大家比較熟悉的賓語從句基本相似.

[用法]撒謊,為固定搭配

[比較]tell/say/speak/talk,其用法各有側重,也有各自的一些搭配,學習重要注意區分和積累.

2>An e-mail is less formal than a letter,but there are still a few things to keep in mind.

[舉例]Keep in mind that you ll have to practice economy.

2>My bike had a flat tire but I had no time to fix it.

[用法]a.1. 平的,平坦的 2.(輪胎)泄了氣的 ad. 平直地,仰卧地

[舉例]Of course, no one now believes that the earth is flat.

當然如今無人相信地球是平的。

Our car had a flat tire.

我們那輛汽車有一隻輪胎漏了氣。

Lie down flat and breathe deeply.

平躺下,作深呼吸。

[用法]vt.1. 使固定;牢記 2. 確定;決定[(+up)][+wh-][+to-v] 3. 修理;整理;

[舉例]Her image was fixed in his mind.

她的形象深深印在他的腦海裏。

[搭配]fix one s eyes/attention upon...注意力集中在...

[用法]1. 撞到 2. 偶遇

[舉例]The bus got out of control and ran into a wall.

[用法]此處為vt. skip classes意為逃課,逃學

[用法] 照看;注意

[用法]取笑某人

[聯想]laugh at...,基本同義
