apply的用法和搭配

apply的'用法：

一、apply表示“應用”、“運用”、“適用”等，注意以下用法：

①表示“應用”、“運用”等，通常為及物動詞；要表示“將...運用到...”，通常用介詞 to：

We decided to apply a new method. 我們決定使用新方法。

In this way we can better apply theory to practice. 這樣我們就能更好地把理論運用到實踐中去。

②表示“適用”，通常為不及物動詞；要表示“適用於...”，通常用介詞 to(不能用 for)：

The rule doesn’t apply in all cases. 此規則並非適用於所有的情形。

The book does not apply to beginners. 這書不適合於初學者。

These methods apply to learning English. 這些方法適用於英語學習。

二、apply表示“申請”，注意以下用法：

①可用及物或不及物動詞，表示“申請得到...”，要用介詞 for；表示“申請做某事”，其後接不定式：

You may apply in person or by letter. 你親自或通過書信申請均可。

More than 30 people applied for the position. 有30多個人申請這個職位。

He applied to stay there. 他申請留在那兒。

比較以下兩同義句：

去年他申請入黨。

正：Last year he applied to join the Party.

正：Last year he applied for membership in the Party.

②表示“向...申請(得到)...”，通常用 apply ...：

He applied to us for help. 他向我們求援。

They applied to the government for financial help. 他們向政府申請經濟援助
