媽媽要來看麗，課間的'時候媽媽給麗帶了一大包好吃的，媽媽想問問老師麗的學習情況，麗就帶着媽媽來見老師，老師看了看麗説起了最近的英語測試，説麗雖然是成績不好，但是考當地的一個不好的高中還是可以的，媽媽聽了有些不是滋味，説麗以前學習挺好的，老師笑了笑，説了一句“天外有天，人外有人嘛”。

後面説了什麼，麗不記得了，麗只覺得老師那一笑是有些諷刺的，總覺得老師瞧不起自己，麗心裏很不服氣，很想自己以前的老師，老師憑什麼説麗只能去那個差一些的高中，初中才剛剛開始，而且這只是一個普通的老師自己組織的測試，難道就憑這個嗎，麗有些不喜歡這個老師，只覺得這個老師並不看重自己。

麗上課的時候還是會學習單詞，背語法，老師上課的時候會考單詞，不僅要拼寫，而且要説出相關的語法，麗沒到這時候就很緊張，擔心自己會説錯，不想讓老師更加認定了她只能去差一點的高中的想法，麗想做些成績給老師看，讓老師注意到自己，自己也是有考上好高中的能力的。
