比賽終於開始了，同學們個個磨拳擦掌，躍躍欲試，準備好好表現一下。先是我們這組回答，我們這組順利地回答完了，另一組的同學也爭先恐後地把想好的成語説出來，“日新月異、萬象更新、推陳出新、喜新厭舊……”就這樣我們兩組展開了激烈的.角逐。到比賽接近尾聲的時候，能想到的成語幾乎都説了個遍。輪到我們這組回答時，大家都抓耳撓腮，搜腸刮肚地想，拼命地找資料，個個小臉漲得通紅。我也不例外，絞盡腦汁，在腦海中搜索帶“新”字的成語。突然，我眼前一亮，想到了一個成語，“吸新吐故”。“嘻嘻”，我興奮極了，立刻把手舉得高高的。老師叫我回答，我脱口而出：“吸新吐故”。老師微笑着説：“回答正確。”並給我們組加了一筆。這時“快樂隊”個個垂頭喪氣，有的“唉”地歎了口氣，有的説了一句：“又被説了。”……最後，比賽結束了，我們組得到了210分，而對方只得到了190分。我們組以20分暫時領先。
