The Spring Festival is very important to Chinese people.

In the past， people could not often have meat， rice or other delicious food. They could only eat these during the Spring festival. So every year they hoped that the Spring Festival would come soon. Now， although people’s life is much better， and we can eat the deli foods everyday. People still like the festival. Because most people can have a long holiday， and we are free to go on a trip or visit our friends or have parties with our family. In the evenings， we can have a big meal in the restaurant or stay at home with family and watch the TV programmes.

春節對中國人來説非常重要。

The Spring Festival is my most favorite festival, because it’s time for family gathering. And the Spring Festival is a new start of a year. It brings me hope and courage. On Spring Festival, my parents usually take me back to my hometown. My hometown is a small town. Many of my relatives move to the larger cities, but we usually go home when the Spring Festival comes. During the gathering, we share our lives with others and care about each other. Of course, big meals are necessary. Families prepare for the big meals together. They all cook their specialty dishes. Therefore, our meals are always delicious. We often stay at home for three days and then we leave with others’ wishes. I like the Spring Festival, because I like family gathering.

Before the festival, people come home no matter where they are. Usually, we have a big dinner on the New Year’s Eve. And then families sit together and share their lives or planes. Some will play games or hang out to have some fun. On the New Year’s Day, people get up early and say good words to anyone they meet. Children can get lucky money from relatives. In the following days, we will visit relative’s home and bring New Year’s wishes to them. In short, it’s a time for family gathering and all of us enjoy it.
