小烏龜通身翠綠，像用玉雕出來的一樣，極其精緻。頭的兩邊長着一對黑豆般的小眼睛，亮晶晶很有神。在它的眼睛後面，長着一對不容易看出來的小耳朵。下面是一張三角形的嘴。小烏龜有尖尖的小尾巴，強壯的四隻腳，腳上還長有趾甲，趾間有蹼，划水時可幫上大忙了。它的殼分成一些多邊形塊，每個小塊上都有花紋，放到一起組成了美麗的大花紋，非常堅固。最有特點的是它肚子底下也有花紋，並且是“回”字形的。看上去就像古代時的盾牌，十分別致。
