Time is like a sharp knife。

It can carve hard lines on beautiful faces and wear out youth year afteryear, but using it well can make a piece of simple stone into a great statue。St。 Mary Academy is still a simple piece of white stone briefly carved, but astime marches on,duanwenw,。 it may be spoiled by dust, worn out by weather, orbroken into separate pieces。 It may be also carefully carved by knife intowonderful statues。 Everyone at school, including our schoolmates, controls thisknife。

If I have a chance to live to be an old woman,I shall,in my peacefuldreams, seek the old paths leading through the trees which I used to travel downin my earlier days。 The old bell tower, standing in the golden sunlight, makes aslow,solemn1 sound as girls pour into the church like a stream。 There they willkneel, pray and whisper to their spiritual Lord about the little things in theirlives。 They will ask him to help them in reaching their future goals and I canhear the old church tower whisper in return,“Yes,St。 Mary certainly possessesthe most hard-working girls that shall glorify2 her with their brightfutures!”

What I feel when I hear these words depends on whether I have done anythingmeaningful over the years。 If I have been successful,I will smile with prideand contentment, for I have taken a part, though a very small part,in carvingout, with the knife of time, this wonderful model of school life。

There is no better school than y defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve myperformance next r again will I contribute to my downfall by refusingto face the truth and learn from my past use I know: gems cannotshine without polish, and I can not perfect myself without hardship.

Now I know that there are no times in life when opportunity, the chance tobe and do gathers so richly about my soul when it has to suffer cruel everything depends on whether I raise my head or lower it in seeking ever I am struck down, in the future, by any terrible defeat, I will inquireof myself, after the first pain has passed, how I can turn that adversity a great opportunity that moment may present……to take the bitter rootI am holding and transform it into fragrant garden of flowers.

Always will I seek the seed of triumph in every adversity.

How often do you hear people say “I will be happy when …”such as “When Iget that thing,I will be happy,” “I will be happy when I pass the exam” and “Iwould be happy if I had more money”。 I have heard these things before and I amsure that I will hear them again。

Many people want to believe that finding happiness is all about finding orgetting something that they want。 However, not many people have ever foundlong-term happiness by achieving a goal。 There will always be another thing thatthey want。 There will always be another exam or another dollar。

To break this vicious cycle,we must find our happiness somewhere else―within ourselves。 In other words, happiness is pletely an inside job。 The keyto finding happiness is to understand that happiness is a choice rather than theresult of an experience。 We have been given everything

We need to be happy。 Allow yourself to choose happiness。 If life wasperfect, would you be happy? Life is perfect because we create it with ourchoices。 Since we can create life,we can create happiness and choose how muchbetter our lives can get!

Only when we can accept that life is perfect as it is,and that our livesare the sum total of everything that has happened up to this moment, can weaccept the joy and the happiness we deserve。

There is actually a pie in the sky。 It was made especially for you。 It isyour favorite flavor。 You can eat as much of it as you want。 It is all yours andyou don’t have to share it with anyone。

Now,all you have todo to get your pie is build a set of stairs, climb up your stairs, and reach outyour hand to take it。

First, you must figure out what the design of your stairs will be。 If youdon’t know, find a person who has managed to build a set of stairs to reach hispie, and find out what needs to be done。

Next, you will need to prepare for your stairs。 You need to buy the woodand the tools。 You might need to replace some broken tools。

Finally, and this is the hardest step, you need to focus your mind on yourwork。 The actual work requires constructing the stairs。 You may find that you’veworked really hard for days, weeks or even months, and then suddenly find thatyour stairs are not going to line up with your pie。 So you need to make surethat you still have money to buy new materials and rebuild your stairs in theright direction。

With proper planning and careful pacing, you will be able to reach yourpie。 Your pie is right there, right above you。 All you need to do is get it。

Good afternoon, my dear teachers and friends,

Suppose you are in a dark cave alone now. Maybe you can not find any hope, you are trembling and frightened. What will you do? What will you say? Will you give up? (……) No we should not give up. We should try our best to find hope. So today, I am honored to stand here to share my opinion with you---- Let’s say NO to Give UP.

Don’t allow your troubles to get the best of you。 Instead, allow thosetroubles to make the best of you。

Don’t tire yourself out fighting against the challenges。 Instead, find newenergy by embracing1 those challenges and working through them to create realvalue。

Always remind yourself that discour-agement is nothing more than a responseyou’ve chosen。 When you find that you’ve chosen to let it be,you can just assurely choose to let it go。

Replace discouragement with determin-ation。 It is your life’s energy, andyou can point it in whatever direction you choose。 Your most powerful responseis not based only on what has already happened。 Your most powerful response alsotakes into account what you wish to make happen next。

Look forward, and envision in great detail the future you desire。 Thengather all your energy, and step forward to make it be。
